Urban Decay ELECTRIC Palette Review and Swatches!

Super exciting post for you guys today! I just got my Urban Decay Cosmetics Electric Palette in the mail!

As soon as this palette was 'leaked' or even hinted about, I was beyond excited, and knew I HAD TO HAVE IT as soon as it was released. I don't know about you guys, but I'm so sick of getting 'Naked'. Naked palettes galore, Naked skin Foundation (which I do love!), Naked Lip Gloss, I'M OVER IT URBAN DECAY! Well, it seems they've finally heard our cries for color, and so the Electric palette is born.

Urban Decay describes this palette as:
"It's a color addict's ultimate fix: a mind-blowing palette filled with 10 of the brightest, most amazing shades you've ever laid eyes on - including eight never-before-seen shares you won't find anywhere else - plus a double-ended brush. Choose from matte, satin, and shimmer textures. From current exclusive Chaos (the most highly coveted shade from The Vice Palette) and Freak (neon green) to Urban (metallic purple) and Jilted (fuchsia with a blue shift), this palette has it all. And the color payout? INSANE. Our Pigment Infusion System delivers soft, creamy, blendable color that lasts."
-Taken from the Electric Palette Box

I do wish they had skipped the re-promoted colors Chaos and Revolt. I have The Vice Palette, and I'm not a fan of Chaos in it. It just doesn't go with The Vice Palette, and I hardly use it. Revolt can be found in one of the Face Case palettes as well. A silver has no place in this palette. Sure, maybe a silver and blue or purple look, but honestly I just don't like that they included it in this palette. I'd be happier with this if they left both those shades out and made it an 8 color palette even. I'd would have LOVED to see a matte yellow, or a matte black in place of those shades, I really think including those colors instead of re-promoted shades would have made it a more complete palette.

I also don't think any of the shades in this are a true 'matte' shadow. Chaos and Savage come close, but there are still hints of sparkle in the pan, even though they hardly show up on the eyes/swatched. I DO, however, think that the fact that most of these have a hint of shimmer to them makes them easier to blend, especially for those just beginning to dip your toes into brighter colors.

Revolt, Gonzo, Slowburn, Savage, and Fringe (Swatched over UDPP)
Chaos, Jilted, Urban, Freak, and Thrash (Swatched over UDPP)
  • Revolt - Shimmering metallic Silver. I find this to be a true, neutral (but more cool toned) silver. Not a fan of it in this palette, but it's not a bad color.
  • Gonzo - Turquoise blue. I love the brightness of this color. Mostly matte, similar to Sugarpill's Afterparty eyeshadow.
  • Slowburn (not safe for eyes) - Bright, red based orange. Super pigmentation in this color!
  • Savage (not safe for eyes) - Matte neon pink. Gorgeous and opaque.
  • Fringe - Shimmering forest green with hints of blue. A great crease shade for this palette. Blends beautifully with the blues AND the greens.
  • Chaos - Bright matte royal blue. Slightly patchy, but applies better to the eyes than in a swatch.
  • Jilted (not safe for eyes) - Bright fuchsia with a blue shift. Blue shift isn't as pronounced as some of UD's other shades. Swatched a lot more pink than it looks in the pan.
  • Urban (not safe for eyes) - Deep pink-toned purple. I'm surprised this one is on the 'not safe for eyes' list honestly. Has pink shimmer through it.
  • Freak - Shimmer light green. I ADORE this shade in the eyeliner, so happy it's an eyeshadow as well now!
  • Thrash - Bright vibrant chartreuse. Amazing pigmentation with bright sparkle. This shade made me gasp out loud when I swatched it!

In this look, I used:
  • Urban Decay Primer Potion
  • Electric Palette Eyeshadows in Freak, Thrash, Fringe, Chaos, and Gonzo
  • Wet N Wild Eyeshadow in Brulee
  • Urban Decay 24/7 Liquid Liner in Perversion
  • Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Pencil in Freak
  • Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Pencil in Deviant
  • Sephora Outrageous Volume Mascara
Now, Urban Decay pulls a little fun here, and includes a sneaky little insert that reads that "Slowburn, Savage, Jilted, and Urban are NOT intended for use in the immediate eye area." Also, notice that this palette is not marketed directly as an 'eyeshadow palette', but rather, a 'pressed pigment palette'. Here's why that is. 'Neon' shades in cosmetics have not been FDA approved in the United States. However, have been approved for use in the eye area in Canada and Europe. (Think of the Sleek Acid palette!) So basically, UD is covering their asses by including that little bit of info, and marketing this as a 'Pressed Pigment Palette'. Most people who have allergies to cosmetics tend to react to the dyes and pigments used in reds, and pinks, and ingredients used to make these colors. In my own personal opinion, I choose to not heed these warnings, and will be using said shades on my eyes. This is because I KNOW my body, and I know that I have no problems or irritations using shades like this around my eyes. It's you to YOU, and YOU ONLY to decide how you will use these pigments. Don't say I (or Urban Decay) didn't warn you. It's very possible that you could be allergic to these strong pigments. So proceed with caution!

Overall, I'm in love with this palette. No palette is perfect, so I can work with the re-promoted shades, and the 'Not safe for eyes' shades do not bother me. You can check out my video review of it here!:

Are you planning on picking up this palette? Let me know your thoughts on it in the comments section! Also feel free to ask any questions and I'll do my best to answer them, I want to help you decide if this palette is right for you!

Easiest Winged Liner Tutorial!

Hey everybody! I have some exciting updates to share!
First off, I FINALLY got a decent video camera, and I'm now going to be making videos much more
regularly!
Second, EYELINER TUTORIAL!!

The number one question I get asked is; how do I do my eyeliner, and what eyeliner do I use?
I can tell you right now, that my liner is not ALWAYS perfect (duh, no ones is), and it's super easy to get precise, on point eyeliner!

Personally, my favorite is the Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in Perversion. It has a super small brush tip, glides on nicely, dries semi-shiny (think almost a latex-like finish!), and is waterproof! It can be sort of difficult to use if you're just starting out though. If you're new to liquid liner, I recommend trying something that's a pen-style liner. Such as Physician's Formula 2-in-1 Lash Boosting Liquid Liner Pen.

My number ONE tip for liner, is don't be afraid to try it! And don't worry about trying to get it absolutely perfect in one line, on your first application. It's NOT going to happen. In fact, I typically make a giant mess on my face every day when I do my makeup xD Check out my video here:

In the video, I'm wearing Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Walk Of Shame, and MAC Blue Brown pigment in the crease. I wanted to do something simple, so you could really see the liner better!
As you can tell, I'm far, far from perfect. But practice helps, and so do those pointed q-tips! xD You'll do much better practicing if you don't fret about it looking absolutely perfect from the get-go, it's the end result that matters!

I hope this was helpful! Now that I'm more capable of making videos, please comment, subscribe, and let me know what you all want to see from me!

Also I'm hosting a blog sale over on Storenvy! I have so much new, swatched, or barely used makeup that I neglect! So I've listed a lot of it (still more to come) over there for sale! Please check it out, there's some palettes, limited edition items, and body care!

( P.S., I will not be selling anything that was sent to me for review by companies, or samples. It's not fair to sell and make money off things I received out of the kindness of another company! Be sure to follow me so you can keep up with new items listed for sale!)

Glitchbomb!

Hello everyone!
So I haven't been very active over on Makeupbee.com in a while, when I headed over there the other night I noticed they're having another Sugarpill themed contest! I thought this was just my chance to start creating looks over there again! Partially inspired by the new Illamasqua 'Speckled' theme they've got going on over there, I love everything about it!
So here's what I came up with!

Products Used:
  • Urban Decay Primer Potion
  • NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk
  • Sugarpill eyeshadows in Mochi, Acidberry, Poision Plum, and Flamepoint
  • Sleek Acid Palette
  • Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Liner in Perversion
  • Lime Crime Uniliners in Rhyme and Reason
  • Sugarpill Charlotte Lashes

Steps:
  1. Apply UDPP all over lid, up to brow bone. Once dry, apply NYX jumbo pencil in milk all over lid, also to brow bone.
  2. Apply Mochi all over lid
  3. Apply Acidberry in crease, and carry all the way to the inner corner
  4. Apply neon yellow from the Acid palette in the inner corner, use this color to blend out Acidberry as well.
  5. Use white from Acid palette under brow bone as a highlight
  6. Line eyes with UD Liquid liner in perversion
  7. Use LC Liner in Rhyme (silver) to add the dots, and create the 'speckled' look
  8. Apply Flamepoint eyeshadow to lower eyelid
  9. Apply Poison Plum to waterline
  10. Coat bottom lashes with LC Liner in Reason (gold)
  11. Apply Flash lashes
If you love it, make sure to head over to Makeupbee and 'LUV' it! I've never won a Makeupbee contest but I've come sickeningly close SOO many times!
Find the look here!:

In other news, my giveaway on my Facebook page has started! You have until April 24th to enter, so head over to my Facebook page and make sure you enter for your chance to win the newest Concrete Minerals Sugar Skull collection!

Urban Decay Build Your Own Palette

Hello everyone! I know it's been literally MONTHS since I've posted, and my blog needs some serious TLC. But today I'm going to write you a review on Urban Decay's Build your own palette system!

What it is:

Urban Decay is coming to you with the ultimate personalized beauty experience. They're known for their palettes, but sometimes not every color is the color you want, and you end up buying an entire palette for just one gorgeous color. While the other colors are neglected and go to waste!
Now you can buy an empty 6 pan palette, and fill it with your own UD shadows. And actually, it doesn't come empty, because every one already includes a free eyeshadow, in ABC Gum (Top Left shadow shown) and you get a brush too!
UD makes it easier than ever to create your perfect palette. Even their depotting system is a breeze.

Personally, when this was released, I wasn't too overly excited. I only had one shadow that was a single, and I have countless palettes. But recently, UD hosted a flash sale, buy any two eyeshadows, and get the palette (including free shadow) for free. With free shipping. Sold. My guess is that they're either revamping the design, or coming up with a new system, because they're just giving them out like that. Either that, or they're even more amazing than I already thought! I decided to buy Mildew and Loaded, and already owned a single of Mushroom.

Depotting system:

Everybody who has ever tried to depot, or usually depots shadows knows, it's a gamble, and can be messy business. Usually ending up with shadow everywhere, mangled hot plastic, and if worst comes to worst, gouged/broken eyeshadows.
UD must be aware of this. Because every one of their single eyeshadows is easily depottable. All you literally have to do is flip it upside down, and push on the back! (This is for all the shadows in with NEW token design. The old design is a little more tricky)

Single Shadow
Flip over, push gently on the back. Have it close to a soft surface, or be ready to catch it, because it will pop out easily!
And this is whats left!
One thing I really love about the system, is that it leaves the packaging completely intact. So if you want to take that color out of your palette, or don't feel like lugging the whole palette with you, you can just stick your shadow right back into the single packaging.
The shadow itself is still housed in some of the plastic surroundings, so its pretty insulated and protected, and this plastic insert fits right into the palette and snaps into place. They're extremely easy to remove or move around in the palette, so you don't have to be too picky when placing them. All of the shadows maintain their labels, so you'll never have to guess which shadows you have.
However, if you plan to depot your UD shadows to place into other palettes (ZPalette, or something that is  NOT The UD palette) you will still need to take another step to get this shadow out from the smaller plastic housing.

Overall:

I really like the idea of The UD Build Your Own Palette system. I will be buying two more shadows to fill it up! It was brilliant for them to make their shadows easily depottable to fit the palette, they're really listening to their customers need for customization. I also think making the depotted shadows have a system to fit into their palette only was a clever business strategy. Why wouldn't you buy a UD palette if its the easiest way to get your own custom UD palette?
If it wasn't for the awesome deal they had going on with it, I probably wouldn't have bothered with it though. Its kind of expensive, and filling it up with UD singles gets expensive as well.

Ulta Haul!

So I FINALLY got the chance to take a roadtrip to an Ulta store! The closest one to me is about an hour and a half drive away, and I've never been there before! I had a huge wishlist, didn't end up getting EVERYTHING (although I could certainly spend hours, possibly days) in there! But, I still spent probably wayy too much money. Oh well, it was a trip right?! Anyways, I just got home, and I'm gonna swatch and give my first impressions on everything! So here we go!

NYX Green Tea Blotting Papers
Ulta Brand 'Lust in Lace' Nail Laquer collection

Very dark, but each one has gorgeous colored glitter in it. Near black, but more interesting than that!
Zoya polish in 'Lotus'

Too Faced Amazing Face Foundation Powder in 'Vanilla Cream'
Urban Decay 24/7 Concealer Pencil in 'CIA'

I hope this one lives up to the hype, I'm in the market desperately for an amazing concealer!

NYX Jumbo Pencils in 'Sparkle Green' and 'Milk'

Milk is a staple color I am constantly hearing about, and finally had a chance to pick up! Sparkle Green was just too pretty to pass up. Almost reminds me of UD's Shadow pencil in 'Clinic', which I ADORE! NYX is only a bit less glittery.

NYX Studio Liquid Liner in 'Extreme Blue' and 'Extreme Purple'

Been searching for some affordable colored liquid liners, I saw these online and knew I had to give them a shot! The blue reminds me so much of UD's Radium Liquid Liner.

Urban Decay Lip Junkie Lip Gloss in 'Crush'

Minty! I've been lusting after these for forever, and I finally bit the bullet. I enjoy this one, I'd love to get more, however, as soon as I opened it to try it, the silver decorative part of the cap came loose and fell off! Nothing a little glue can't fix, but for $19, I'd like the packaging to at least stay intact.

NYX Extreme Lip Cream in 'Pinky Nude' and NYX Plump it up Lip Plumper in 'Elizabeth'

Extreme Lip Cream 'Pinky Nude'
Lip Plumper in 'Elizabeth'
Loving the Lip cream! It's like a liquid lipstick. As for the lip plumper, it feels like I'm rubbing chili peppers on my lips! Even just doing this lip swatch burned sooo much. But I'm hoping I'll get used to it, or it fades quickly, since I didn't wear the swatch long.

Stila Lip Glazes. (L to R: Pinata, Kitten, and Maraca)
(Extreme Lip Cream stained my pale arm! xD)
Maraca
Kitten
Pinata
I knew I loved these before I picked them up. So when I saw a pack of three on sale for $7.99 (normally $20 a pop) I knew it was a steal!

(Not Pictured)
Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Minx.
I couldn't get a good picture or swatch of this color, it's just such a unique bluish gold, everything looked like poo. So I decided not to include a picture. However it's the last piece of my Ulta haul!

Overall I'm pretty excited to try out and play with everything I bought. With an unlimited budget, you KNOW I would've bought more! (Who wouldn't!?) But for now, gonna play with what I have, so I can plan out my next roadtrip!

Makeup Purge!

I'm planning a huge trip to Ulta soon. (We don't have one around where I live!) So I just purged my makeup collection of everything used up, possibly expired, or too gross to use!  Here's what I got rid of, and why.

  • Samples of Kat Von D Pigments in Torment and Johnette. My samples were completely used up! I decided to purchase the full size of Johnette!
  • Sample of Make Up For Ever Full Coverage Concealer. Once again, my sample is completely used up. That tiny amount lasted me about 2 months. Definitely planning on purchasing the full size, even if it is expensive!
  • Ardell Powder Brow Color. This powder shattered in the pan a few weeks after I got it. The color wasn't quite right for my hair color, so I decided not to fix it, and to just toss it.
  • CoverGirl Lipslicks lip color in Demure. I tried using this for the sake of using it up, but god, it is sooo awful. The taste and smell are just wretched. I can't bring myself to use it anymore!
  • Maybelline The Falsies mascara. I keep trying this and trying this hoping it'll live up to the hype everyone gives it, but it just doesn't do it for me. Can't bring myself to use it instead of my other favorite mascaras!
  • Revlon Just Bitten Lip Stains. These are just awful. Patchy, drying beyond belief, and the added balm doesnt do anything. And broke off one of my tube after the first use! I even bought a second one, hoping the color I got just wasn't working for me, but that wasn't the case. I'm tossing both of them. In Beloved and Midnight.
  • Rimmel Clean Finish Foundation. I bought the lightest color they sold, but it's still wayyy too orangey for my skin tone. Plus is feels very heavy on me. No go for this one.
  • Urban Decay Eyeshadow Tranforming Potion. This is supposed to be a clean liquid, which lets you use any eyeshadow you have and turn it into a liquid liner. Not as spectacular as it sounds. I'd rather use an angled brush and water for the same effect! Good thing I got it on sale for like $2. So I don't feel so bad tossing it, as it just takes up space on my desk.
  • Urban Decay Liquid Liner in Ecstasy. I was eyeing these forever, and I finally bought one discounted from All Cosmetics Wholesale. Well, I think the one I got is quite told. It's more of a solidish, chunky liquid. It doesn't even move in the bottle itself! I thought of thinning it down to try to get more use out of it, but it's probably already quite old before it got into my hands, So I'll just toss it and take a loss. Better luck next time!
  • Warpaint Beauty Eyeshadow Roller Ball. I got this as a gift in a Warpaint (Hot Topic Brand) box set. I absolutely loved the perfume and lip gloss, but this eyeshadow in a roller ball thing is a total fail. While the idea is very cool, there is almost nooo color pay off. And you can't control the pigment or placement at all!
  • Wet N Wild Cover All Stick. Could be a great, thick concealer, but once again, the lightest color is too dark for me. It tends to get patchy under my eyes as well.

Well guys, that my makeup purge before the big trip to Ulta! I'll definitely be posting a haul blog once I return! I've already got my wishlist full of things I want to buy there!

Pressing Loose and Mineral Eyeshadows!

Hey everyone! So I recently filmed a tutorial on how to press loose and mineral eyeshadows yourself! Pretty neat. Here's a link to the video tutorial on youtube:

Urban Decay Roller Girl Polish Kit!

Hey Everyone! So, I'm new to this whole blogging thing, and I really never had anything to blog about, sooo, Ill be using this to blog about my artwork, my jewelry designs, and my sortofmassive obsession with makeup!

So first things first! I recently ordered Urban Decay's Roller Girl Nail Polish kit from their website. I got it on sale for $8! Normally this retails for around $38 I think on Urban Decay's website.

Colors L-R: Fame, Superfreak, Xanadu, Miss T, Woodstock, and Love Train

These are so tiny and cute! Personally, I wouldn't pay full price for this, but since it was on sale, I decided to go ahead and pick it up! The colors are super cute, The only one I've tried wearing on all my nails with a top coat so far is Superfreak, its such a delicious gold.

I find that these tend to chip super fast unfortunately. At least Superfreak did, I had chips all over the place the next day, even with a top coat. But other than that, I think this is totally worth $8 for 6, mini Urban Decay nail polishes!
