Product and Company Review: Brazen Cosmetics

Hey everyone! Recently I was given the opportunity to try another brand of indie makeup, Brazen Cosmetics! The mastermind behind the brand, Sandria is a total sweetheart, and as soon as I went to their website, I knew Brazen was something I wanted to try!

Brazen describes themselves as:

"Brazen is your top stop for kick ass indie cosmetics for stage and street! We love creative and trendy makeup and scents! Why blend in?! We specialize in professional formulas, intense pigmentation, and long wearing shades."
http://brazencosmetics.com/

Brazen was kind enough to send me three mineral eyeshadows, three sample liquid lipsticks, and one full size liquid lipstick!

Left to Right: Delinquent, Wicked, and Submission

Swatched over UDPP, Left to right: Delinquent, Wicked, Submission
Each jar comes shrink wrapped, and includes the name of the eyeshadow, a full list of ingredients, their website, and where it was distributed from.

At the moment, Brazen doesn't have all these shades listed on their website, (at the time I'm writing this). However, they are planning a huge re-launch of their eyeshadows, so I'm guessing that's exactly why!

Each shade as described by me:

Delinquent - Dark plum shimmer with an almost black base. Very similar to UD Rockstar eyeshadow, only darker and more sparkly!

Wicked - Shimmery medium green
Submission - Deep navy with bright blue shimmer

Look I did using all three shadows!
Complete list of products used:

  • Urban Decay Primer Potion Original
  • Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Pencil in Perversion (used as a base on the eyelid)
  • Brazen Cosmetics Eyeshadow in Wicked
  • Brazen Cosmetics Eyeshadow in Submission
  • Brazen Cosmetics Eyeshadow in Delinquent
  • Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in Perversion
  • Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Pencil in Rockstar
  • It Cosmetics Hello Lashes! Mascara
Now onto the lip products! Brazen was kind enough to send me samples of three of their lipsticks, in Starlet, Le Femme, and Hot Blooded. I also got a full sized liquid lipstick in Hot To Trot! These lipsticks come in a twist-up brush tip kind of thing, exactly the same containers that Stila Lip Glazes come in. Personally, I don't mind this type of applicator, I think it's comparable to applying lipstick with a lip brush and it's easy to carry with you.

Stila Lip Glaze just for comparison's sake.
Left to right: La Femme, Starlet, Hot Blooded

Left to right: Hot Blooded, Starlet, La Femme, and Hot To Trot
Each shade as described by Brazen:

Hot Blooded -  Fiery passionate flambe red with warm undertone and enticing shimmer.
Starlet - Vibrant hot pink (with cool undertones)
La Femme - It starts out with a perfectly neutral peachy pink, not too pink but not too orange...just right. Then we swirl in a hint of gold sheen that adds a pop of sexy without going over the top
Hot To Trot -  Scrumptious flirty coral pink with gold shimmer.

These are currently priced at $13.99, and for the amount of product you get, I think that's completely fair. I wore Hot To Trot through-out my work day, and only had to re-apply after eating. So once, in an entire work day! The color stayed vibrant and I got tons of compliments on it! While these weren't drying in the least, they sort of never 'dried down.', I know lip products aren't really supposed to dry down, but it felt slightly greasy on my lips, but nothing to the point where I can't wear it. I'm used to OCC Lip Tars or matte lipsticks! When you order these lipsticks, they will come in the tube with the brush top. The pots are just how they package samples.

Clockwise from upper left: Hot Blooded, Hot To Trot, La Femme, Starlet
All in all, I love the look of Brazen Cosmetics. They have an edgy, and daring look, and I definitely dig it. Their products are great, and I am definitely on the edge of my seat waiting on that relaunch of their eyeshadows! I cannot wait to see what gorgeous colors they come up with!

Revlon Kissable Balm Stain Review and EOTD

Hey guys! Today I did a rather basic, neutral pin up look with some fake lashes. I'm not too big into wearing falsies, but I thought I'd go for something super glamorous today.

My hair is always such a mess xD
Eyes:
  • Urban Decay Primer Potion - Original
  • Revlon Matte Eyeshadow in Vintage Lace
  • Maybelline Eyeshadow in Made For Mocha
  • Illamasqua Eyeshadow in Sex
  • Physician's Formula Lash Boosting Liquid Eyeliner in Ultra Black
  • Rimmel Kohl Pencil in Pure White
  • Cover Girl Lash Blast Mascara
  • ELF Lash Exact Mascara
  • Random no-name lashes
Brows:
  • Maybelline Eyeshadow in Made For Mocha
  • Ardell Clear Brow Gel
Lips:
  • Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Darling
Today I didn't applying foundation, concealer, blush, or anything else. I'm not planning on going anywhere, so I didn't feel like bothering. Plus I'm running out of foundation! Oh no!!!

Anyways, speaking of Revlon, I managed to pick up some of their new Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains yesterday. Anyone remember their Just Bitten Lip Stains? The ones with the marker tip and balm on the other end? I do, and I do NOT have fond memories of them! I tried two different ones, and both of them were ridiculously patchy, drying, and just all around horrible. After that, I was skeptical on Revlon lip products, especially anything with the word 'stain' in it. But I bit the bullet on this one, it looked too promising not to try at least once. I have one already in Honey (not pictured today) and I loved it! They're not drying, easy to apply, and they really do have the staying power of a stain! My local CVS is having an amazing deal on them, so I grabbed up 4 more of them.

I love these guys. I've never owned one of the Clinic Chubby Sticks, but if I had to guess, I'd stay these are a great dupe for a much more reasonable price. I can apply these once, and my lips will retain the color pretty much through the day! Eating and drinking with these is no problem. If anything, I might have to re-apply once in the middle of my day just to freshen up color. These are also great to layer with any lip glosses!

Left to right: Romantic, Smitten, Sweetheart, and Darling

I was most excited for Darling, however, it seems to be the least pigmented of the ones I grabbed. This is a little disappointing, but at the same time, makes it a lavender color that is not over powering if you're a little shy of color. Sweetheart and Smitten are very similar looking in the swatch, but sweetheart is a tad more 'neon', without being a true neon. You don't have to worry about being scared to apply this if you're not ready for a bright lip yet!

Overall, I'm extremely happy with these lip balm stains. I can definitely say I will always have at least one with me in my purse!

Organizing the Stash

Hey everyone! Today I wanted to share this awesome organization thing I found at Office Max this past week. Personally, I love office supply stores, I don't know why, just always have! I can't say I'm the most organized person in the world (more like the opposite) but I love finding things that can help organize me. Especially my main culprit, the massive makeup stash.

As soon as I walked by this guy, I knew it was meant to be. So I picked one up. This blue on holds all of the Concrete Minerals I own, and I still have a drawer and a half empty for more!

It has bars so the drawers don't fall out the sides or the back, they'll only pull out the front, like they're supposed to!

I'd say it's approximately 12in x 12in x 12in cube. It's made of plastic, and kind of flimsy, but all I need it to do is hold my eyeshadow and keep it organized. So it works for me in that aspect. The drawers can be a little finicky, but once again, they were only $10 a piece.

After I picked up the blue, I went back and grabbed the pink one. (Only two colors they had) and I'm not housing all of my loose/single eyeshadows in it. The top holds single eyeshadows, the second holds single shadows, and cream shadows, the third hold pigments and loose eyeshadows, and the bottom drawer holds all my glitters!

Each drawer also pulls completely out, which is nice so that you don't have to dig around in it for things. You can just pull out the whole drawer, use what you need inside, then stick it right back in.
Between both of these, they hold ALL of my eyeshadows and glitters. All of the single ones anyways. I didn't include my palettes, trios, or anything like that. Although I'd love to get another one for eyeliners,  products, small palettes and trios. But before this my singles were just taking up tons of space on my desk, and had even spilled over onto the top of my printer! Yikes! Maybe not a permanent solution, but it's a good step in the right direction!

Ulta Haul!

So I FINALLY got the chance to take a roadtrip to an Ulta store! The closest one to me is about an hour and a half drive away, and I've never been there before! I had a huge wishlist, didn't end up getting EVERYTHING (although I could certainly spend hours, possibly days) in there! But, I still spent probably wayy too much money. Oh well, it was a trip right?! Anyways, I just got home, and I'm gonna swatch and give my first impressions on everything! So here we go!

NYX Green Tea Blotting Papers
Ulta Brand 'Lust in Lace' Nail Laquer collection

Very dark, but each one has gorgeous colored glitter in it. Near black, but more interesting than that!
Zoya polish in 'Lotus'

Too Faced Amazing Face Foundation Powder in 'Vanilla Cream'
Urban Decay 24/7 Concealer Pencil in 'CIA'

I hope this one lives up to the hype, I'm in the market desperately for an amazing concealer!

NYX Jumbo Pencils in 'Sparkle Green' and 'Milk'

Milk is a staple color I am constantly hearing about, and finally had a chance to pick up! Sparkle Green was just too pretty to pass up. Almost reminds me of UD's Shadow pencil in 'Clinic', which I ADORE! NYX is only a bit less glittery.

NYX Studio Liquid Liner in 'Extreme Blue' and 'Extreme Purple'

Been searching for some affordable colored liquid liners, I saw these online and knew I had to give them a shot! The blue reminds me so much of UD's Radium Liquid Liner.

Urban Decay Lip Junkie Lip Gloss in 'Crush'

Minty! I've been lusting after these for forever, and I finally bit the bullet. I enjoy this one, I'd love to get more, however, as soon as I opened it to try it, the silver decorative part of the cap came loose and fell off! Nothing a little glue can't fix, but for $19, I'd like the packaging to at least stay intact.

NYX Extreme Lip Cream in 'Pinky Nude' and NYX Plump it up Lip Plumper in 'Elizabeth'

Extreme Lip Cream 'Pinky Nude'
Lip Plumper in 'Elizabeth'
Loving the Lip cream! It's like a liquid lipstick. As for the lip plumper, it feels like I'm rubbing chili peppers on my lips! Even just doing this lip swatch burned sooo much. But I'm hoping I'll get used to it, or it fades quickly, since I didn't wear the swatch long.

Stila Lip Glazes. (L to R: Pinata, Kitten, and Maraca)
(Extreme Lip Cream stained my pale arm! xD)
Maraca
Kitten
Pinata
I knew I loved these before I picked them up. So when I saw a pack of three on sale for $7.99 (normally $20 a pop) I knew it was a steal!

(Not Pictured)
Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Minx.
I couldn't get a good picture or swatch of this color, it's just such a unique bluish gold, everything looked like poo. So I decided not to include a picture. However it's the last piece of my Ulta haul!

Overall I'm pretty excited to try out and play with everything I bought. With an unlimited budget, you KNOW I would've bought more! (Who wouldn't!?) But for now, gonna play with what I have, so I can plan out my next roadtrip!

Brutal Bitch!!! Bitch Slap Cosmetics and Beauty From The Earth.

Today I received my most recent makeup orders in the mail from Bitch Slap Cosmetics and Beauty From The Earth Cosmetics!
Lets start with Bitch Slap. The only thing I ordered is the 'Brutal Bitch by Naya' leopard print palette: I chose this label, but I don't remember what it was named.(Kinda cool that you get to choose which label you like best though!)

And heres what I did with it:

All in all I love the colors. There was really no description on the website as to whether it was matte, shimmer, or glitter finish or anything, from their photo, I was expecting a matte pallet, but there's a hint of shimmer in these. Oh well, still love it! The purple has to be my least favorite (go figure, it's the largest part of it), I was expecting it to be a little more vibrant, but I really don't own anything near this color of purple anyways. So it's not completely a loss!
I believe one of these leopard print palettes costs $25. They have them in a variety of color combos, but this one was the most interesting to me! Shipping was pretty quick and easy for me. $5, which I think is pretty reasonable. I know there's some drama surrounding Bitch Slap Cosmetics (that I was not aware of until AFTER I made my purchase), but all and all, they get a thumbs up from me for now.

Now for Beauty From the Earth!
I ordered 1 full size mineral shadow, 3 sample size mineral shadows, and I got one free sample mineral shadow with my order! Swatch time:

Left to Right: Isis, Mutiny, Wicked, Coal, and Peacock (Swatched over Hard Candy Eyeshadow Primer)
Isis - Gorgeous deep shimmery red. Almost a burgundy tone.
Mutiny - Shimmery yellow-gold
Wicked - Light purple base, with a green shift to it. Very shimmery and pretty. I think I'm going to be using this over black.
Coal - Nice medium matte grey
Peacock - Tealish/blue with a green shimmer to it. Very pretty!

I'm pretty happy with the colors I chose. Peacock was my free sample, that I did not choose, but I still love it! I haven't actually used these on my eyes yet, but I'm extremely excited to. They're so soft and pigmented, and they go on my skin like a dream!
BFTE is, in my opinion, very fairly priced. One full size jar is $6, and sample sized jars are $2. However, every week or so they have a 'Color of the Week', you get a full size jar of it for $2, so I definitely took advantage of that when I ordered. (Mutiny was the COTW) Shipping was pretty quick too. I will definitely order from Beauty From The Earth again. (Keeping my eyes out for those colors of the week!) They also sell a pressing kit, for pressing your loose shadows, which I'm interested in, but I already have everything I need for pressing eyeshadow. I'm going to post a tutorial as soon as I get my empty pans and palette! That's all I'm waiting on!

So that's about it for these two companies! What are your experiences with them?
