Indie Spotlight: Hello Waffle Cosmetics!

Hey everyone! Time for another Indie Spotlight post!

This time around, the indie brand we'll be checking out is a company that hails from Quebec, Canada and is named after a cat, Hello Waffle Cosmetics!

Christine, the owner of Hello Waffle had contacted me and asked if I'd like to review some of her products. I had heard of Hello Waffle at the time, but had never ordered or tried anything so needless to say, I was super excited for the opportunity!

Let's start with some eyeshadow collections and swatches!

Ouroboros

Features 7 eyeshadows. ((Accidentally left a makeup wipe ontop of some of these and it messed up the cute little graphic/label, poo!))

Sloth - Light olive brown with green sparks
Lust - Dark berry with purple and blue shifts
Wrath- Muted dark gray-green with silver sparks

Pride - Warm dark lilac with light purple sparks
Envy - Medium forest green with multicoloured sparks
Greed - Golden pastel yellow with gold shimmer and blue sparkle
Gluttony - Rich dark chocolate brown with copper/red sparks

Some of my favorites from the Ouroboros collection are Lust, Pride, and Gluttony!

Greek Gods and Goddesses

Features 9 shadows.

Of The Wildland Light lilac with pink to blue shift and a twinkling of pink and purple shimmer.
Goddess of Love - Pale dusty pink with silver to green to blue shift.
The Renowned ArtificerA shimmering golden tan with green to red shift.
Light of the SunIntense metallic gold with a subtle red to blue shift and an explosion of blue and golden green sparkle.

Bringer of StormsStormy purple with a barrage of green to blue shift.
Savior of SailorsGlowing sapphire with turquoise to blue to violet shift.
The UnseenAn inconspicuous brown with silver-green to silver-red to green-gold shift. Some sparkle.
Of the Glinting HelmetDark helmet green with red to orange to pink shift.
Guide Into the UnderworldDark orange with red to gold to bronze shift.

Some of my favorites from the Greek Gods and Goddesses Collection are Bringer of Storms, The Unseen, Light of The Sun, and Savior of Sailors!

Let's move onto the blushes! I have two Hello Waffle blushes that are both absolutely gorgeous. Both colors are also super unique, and I don't have anything else quite like them in my own collection!

Malva and Regina

I'm pretty bad at blush swatches, but you can see that Malva is a beautiful warm orchid color with a satin finish. Regina is a little more interesting! Regina is described as a dark indigo with a periwinkle glow. I see some warmed red tones when I swatched this, but it's beautiful nonetheless! I haven't worn it on my face yet, but it would make a beautiful blush with a light hand, or a striking, more intense contour shade! Both are quite pigmented, but not to the point of not being able to blend them out nicely. You can layer on the color for a more intense look, or just apply a sheer wash for a pretty kiss of color on your cheeks!
Hello Waffle has a gorgeous selection of blush colors. Including some staple, basic colors that everyone loves, and some more unique blush shades that you just can't find elsewhere.

Next I have just a few lip colors to share as well!

I've had the chance to try two lipsticks and three glosses and I've already decided on my favorites!

Rose and Orchid are both lipstick shades. Rose is a gorgeous warm, rose pink. It's just muted enough that it's not too vibrant to wear daily. Orchid is a vibrant warm purple. I love how bright this shade is, but it's got just enough pink in it to make it totally wearable! The lipsticks come in a slim-line style tube, which I love. Traditional lipstick bullets are usually way too big for me to get a nice application without a lip brush.

The three lip gloss colors I have are It's Mauvelous! which is a perfect mauve color. Audrey 2 is a bright magenta with green sparkles. Marsala is a pretty true marsala color, a bit on the more brown side of the shade. It's perfect for the 2015 color of the year and will only be available during 2015!
It's Mauvelous is my favorite, FAVORITE of all three! It seriously has not left my purse since I got it, except to show it and take swatch photos! The glosses are all packaged pretty traditionally with a doe-foot applicator wand.

Overall, I am so in love with everything I've tried from Hello Waffle Cosmetics! They're definitely a great indie brand with the cutest packaging, label designs, color names, collections, ugh. Just everything! If you've tried Hello Waffle before, what are some of your favorite products? If you haven't, what products/colors are you lusting after?!

Indie Spotlight: Geek Chic Cosmetics

So, I know it's Saturday, and you're probably all like 'Where's the Sample Saturday post?!' Well, shit, I'm thinking the same thing. Unfortunately I've fallen victim YET AGAIN to an allergic reaction to a product, this time, a latex free (I know, like, seriously?) eyelash glue, and am not able to wear contacts, eye makeup, or film for a few days while they heal. BOO!

ANYWAYS! I wanted to still do a focus on an indie brand, and this is one you've seen a few times if you've been watching and reading my Sample Saturday episodes! This post is gonna be all about Geek Chic Cosmetics!

Geek Chic is an indie cosmetics line, that focuses on creating cosmetics around all sorts of geekery. If you are into certain fandoms, you will INSTANTLY recognize names and collections from some of your favorite video games, anime, tv series, and movies! Their products are 100% vegan AND cruelty free.
I had ordered 9 sample eyeshadows, just to try. They also sell lip products, a few face products, nail polish (seems like they're getting ready to relaunch those soon), and solid perfume. They looked incredible on the website, and damn, do they look just as incredible in person! Sometimes there are just eyeshadows that BEG to have their macro, close-up shots taken! I just chosen a few samples of shades that REALLY stood out to me, (or with names that I just couldn't possible pass up!)

Collections: The Game is On, This Isn't a Democracy, and Go Boldly
High-Functioning Sociopath
Clementine Will Remember
Blood Wine
Swatched dry with no base or primer!
Collection: Fellowship
One Ring
Samwise The Brave
Swatched dry with no primer or base!
Collection: Timey Wimey
We Are Coming
Bad Wolf
Swatched dry with no primer or base!
Collection: Witchcraft and Wizardry
Golden Trio
Mischief Managed
Swatched dry with no primer or base!
Some of these shades are just brilliant, unlike any that I currently have in my collection! Samples can be ordered of most colors for $1.25. While that's a pretty cheap price, I will say that some of my samples seemed to be a little lighter than others. Full sizes are only $5.99, which is a great price, but you only get 1 gram of product inside. I still personally chose to purchase samples, because I rarely go through a full sized eyeshadow, and if I end up using up a sample, THEN I'll purchase a full size for sure!

I have since order more samples (and admittedly, a couple full size) shadows from Geek Chic! I have been loving them, especially the ones with the stunning microglitters in them, I can't get enough! I hope to try MANY more colors from this brand, and hell, I'd even be down to try their lip products, blushes, and solid perfumes too!

I'd definitely recommend checking out Geek Chic if you're into any nerdy fandom, OR if you just like really, really pretty colors!

Which the fandoms immortalized in makeup from Geek Chic calls the most to you? Also, what other brands have you seen me use in Sample Saturday (or any!) tutorials that you'd like to see an Indie Spotlight post on?

[This product was purchased by me with my own money and I'm not in any way endorsed or affiliated with Geek Chic Cosmetics.]

Lunatick Cosmetics Labs Palettes Swatchfest!

Hey guys!
Today I've got a pretty epic swatchfest for you, featuring four of the brand new palettes from Lunatick Cosmetic Labs!

Recently, Lunatick had re-packaged their palettes. Instead of the 6-pan palettes, they've changed to 5-pan palettes, with EPIC packaging and larger shadows. These palettes now feature an amazing coffin design, including classic horror icons, and even a BAT SHAPED MIRROR! I picked up 4 out of the 6 palettes, only because I already have the Zombie Defense Palette in the old packaging, and Relic was a little too neutral for my liking, but I may have to still grab it at a later date! ;D

Now, go ahead and grab a snack, and maybe something to drink, and get ready for a photo and swatch fest of these gorgeous palettes!

Hocus Pocus Palette

Left to Right: Sacrifice, Lime Lagoon, Phantom Craft, Omen, Pumpkin Queen
Favorite shades: Phantom Craft and Sacrifice
Oracle Palette

Left to Right: Intuition, Spirit, Premonition, HooDoo, Summon
Favorite shades: HooDoo and Premonition
Supernatural Palette

Left To Right: Invocation, Myth, Spook, Reincarnation, Ghoulight
Favorite shades: Invocation and Myth
Beauty From The Crypt Palette

Left to Right: Enchanting Elvira, Vampira, Lustful Lily, Bloody Mary, Magical Morticia
Favorite shades: Bloody Mary and Magical Morticia
All of these are swatched over Lunatick Prime Time white base, the colors are SO GOREgeous! I have a few critiques, but nothing I can't easily look past for these beauties. First, some of the photos on the packaging are a little low-res. This only bothers me because I've got quite a background in graphic design, most people probably won't even notice it. Second, the names of the shadows are NOT printed on the palette. I'm dumb and forgot to take photos before I wrote on them, but I took a micron pen and hand wrote all the names of the shadows on the palettes. I know some people don't care to know, but the names are on the website, and I like to know and be able to tell you the name of the shadow I'm using.

I cannot WAIT to start doing looks with these palettes! Some of the more matte shades are slightly chalky, but they're all crazy pigmented and soft. They also each come with individual acrylic pressers, so if your shadow ever becomes damaged or crumbly, it's easy to just press it back into shape, good as new!

You can check out these palettes at:

and I KNOW some of you horror and makeup enthusiasts, like myself, will just die over them!

Product Review: Sugarpill Cold Chemistry Palette!

I've finally received my Sugarpill Cosmetics Cold Chemistry palette in the mail! Hooray!!!

Finally, my dream come true! Sugarpill describes this palette as:

"A luxury eyeshadow collection created in collaboration with Amelia Arsenic, designer of cult fashion and art brand A is for Arsenic London.
This dark collision of glamour and nocturnal worlds features four richly pigmented, shimmering meteoric shades which blend seamlessly together. The collection combines Amelia's dark aesthetic with Sugarpill's trademark velvety smooth eyeshadow formula. "
(Taken from www.sugarpill.net)
So, for those of you who don't know, I've been obsessed with Amelia and her band (Angelspit) for literally YEARS now (we're talking since like 2007). So once I heard she was collaborating with Sugarpill, one of my favorite makeup brands, I just died on the inside. I had to have it!
I was seriously dying of anticipation for over a year for this collection! Ever since Sugarpill even hinted at it, I knew it was something that needed to be in my life!

The packaging design on this is incredible. I adore Amelia's design work!

This palette includes four shimmery shades. Soot & Stars, Diamond Eyes, Elemental Chaos, and Subterranean.

Soot & Stars - Metallic gunmetal with prismatic sparkle
Diamond Eyes - Satin white with crystalline sheen
Elemental Chaos - Deep grape shimmer with iridescent blue undertones.
Subterranean - Lustrous peacock green with navy blue undertones

Left to Right - Soot &Stars, Diamond Eyes, Elemental Chaos, and Subterranean (Swatched on bare skin with no base)
Wearing all four shades!

Video Review!:

My favorite shade so far is Soot & Stars, it's just so smoky and delicious! My least favorite in the palette is surprisingly Elemental Chaos. It's the most chunky/difficult to work with in my opinion. However, it's not unusable. These shades are all shimmery, and something a little different from the bright, neon world of Sugarpill we all know and love.

I am absolutely adoring this collection. I can see myself wearing/using this palette for the next week for sure!
